ISO 22301:2019

ISO 22301:2019 specifies the requirements for implementing, maintaining and improving a business continuity management system (BCMS). These systems are developed to maintain business continuity, to protect against and reduce the possibility of occurrence of any disruption. ISO 22301 is also structured to prepare for, respond to and recover from disruption when arises; appropriate to the amount and type of impact on the organization.

The requirements and specifications for maintaining a BCMS are the same for all organizations, regardless of its size and nature of work. The extent of the application depends on the industry type, products, processes, and services provided. Size,  structure and requirement of the organization also decide the extent of application of ISO 22301.

ISO 22301:2019 emphasizes the importance of :

    • understanding the company’s requirements for establishing business continuity;
    • operational processes, department’s capabilities and response structures to survive any kind of disruptions;
    • checklist and frequency of monitoring the performance and effectiveness of the standard;
    • analysis of measures based on continual improvements.
