UKCA Marking

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) mark is the United Kingdom (UK) product conformity marking that will be mandatory for a majority of goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) beginning 01 January 2023. The UKCA mark will be the replacement marking for goods which previously required the CE mark. The UKCA marking alone cannot be used for goods placed on the Northern Ireland market, which requires the CE mark or UK(NI) mark.
From 1 January 2021 the technical requirements (‘essential requirements’) identified within UK Regulations must be meet by undergoing a conformity assessment processes. Standards used for demonstrating a presumption of conformity are listed on the UK Designated Standards List: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/designated-standards.
The UKCA marking can only be used from 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, CE marking of product until 1 January 2023 will be accepted.
In certain circumstances the UKCA marking on goods being sold in GB will need to be applied immediately from 1 January 2021 for any new products (example new designed product, not yet CE marked) placed onto the GB market.
The CE mark will only be valid in GB where GB and EU rules remain the same. If the EU changes its rules and the product is CE marked, the CE marked product cannot be placed onto the GB market.
The UKCA mark is not accepted by any of the member state or EEA authorities of the European Union.
